Track Excavator - Operation & Safety v2.1.2 (SSTE)

SILVER SERIES™ → A. Heavy Equipment → 02 Operation and Safety

Description

Track Excavator - Operation & Safety is part of VISTA's growing family of Silver Series online training programs, 1-2 hours in length and delivered via the web. They are ideal for new operator training.

Operating an excavator without training can be unproductive and potentially dangerous. This program provides an overview of the basic principles of safe, productive excavator operation for construction and mining applications.

Key topics in this program include:

Lesson 1 - General Operations: This Operation & Safety training module lays a solid foundation for the rest of the training program by providing a concise overview of machine components and controls, working on slopes, the dig cycle and proper bucket position when digging. It also encourages trainees to be aware of their surroundings when digging on a jobsite. Operators need to be aware of potential hazards surrounding the machine above ground, as well as buried hazards.

Lesson 2 - Truck Loading: This lesson teaches common techniques for loading trucks, including box cutting, bench loading and drive-by loading, and provides trainees with an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each approach.

Lesson 3 - Trenching: Trenches are one of the areas on the jobsite where accidents are most likely to take place. That's why this computer-based training program devotes an entire lesson to trench design and digging with a hydraulic excavator. It includes a discussion of cutback methods, the most common types of ground conditions and their affect on trench design, plus a practical three-step process for digging a stable trench.

Lesson 4 - Lifting a load: Lifting loads brings into play a whole new set of operating skills that trainees must learn. A load that is too heavy or lifted too far or too high from the base of the machine can easily tip over a hydraulic excavator. This lesson teaches trainees how to read a lifting capacity chart and shares tips for safe rigging and lifting.

The track excavator is one of the most productive and versatile machines on today's jobsite, but it's also one that can easily get the operator into trouble if he or she isn't careful. Invest in this program today, to help ensure that your operators learn the best practices for safe, productive operation.

Trainers: Before you begin classroom or field training, why not provide your trainees with a solid foundation of knowledge about the equipment and how to operate it safety? This web-based training course can be delivered any time, anywhere you have access to a high-speed internet connection.
